Introducing...
Our farm hunting has come to an end and we'll be settling on a civil war era farmstead just south of Bowling Green in Half Way, Kentucky. With our move comes a lot of changes including how we will be sharing our harvests with you-our farm members. While we have loved our multi-farm CSA option many of our suppliers are finding lots of success selling directly to consumers at Community Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. As our kids grow older they are asking for their own pigs, cows and chickens. After much prayer and consideration we'll now be growing and raising all of the food we offer in our farm shares right on our own farm. Our new farm at 395 Hickory Lane will offer opportunities for you to come work alongside us, enjoy harvest gatherings, potluck meals and more. We are excited about what the future holds and we hope that you will consider coming along with us.
In addition to a new "all you can eat" option that we will be offering to a small number of households we will be opening up our farm to allow beginning farmers and local food entrepreneurs take the next step towards owning their own business. We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and excitement from Jordan and Jackson Rolett and Emily Aldridge to offer the community fresh, local food. We hope that you will consider one of their new CSA options for the coming year.
All CSA options will begin October 1st. We are asking for a yearly commitment so we can plan accordingly. CSA members do have an option to pay quarterly for their shares.

As changes happen here on the farm so do the opportunities that we can offer others who are interested in supporting local food systems. We are so thankful to the support that Emily Aldridge has given our farm over the past year. Emily helps us harvest and donate produce to HOTEL INC, occasionally assists us at our market booth and is currently helping us offer additional prepared foods for our CSA. Every Monday evening we follow a day of work with a delicious meal and we're thankful to Emily who has come out and shared her cooking knowledge with us. Emily will be offering a prepared food CSA with pickup at Community Farmers market on Tuesdays starting in October. Cost is $55 per week.
"Need More Acres Farm has been a blessing and an outlet for me as I navigate my “9-5” job and explore opportunities to work and serve in local food. This summer I am working for them on a project to can, prepare, and preserve the harvests from the farm, combining my love of old-fashioned food preservation with my love for local food. Already an exciting partnership, I eagerly anticipate where the project may lead as we work to bring more local healthy food to more people in south central Kentucky." Think Little CSA
In the spring of 2013 just as we were beginning our full time farming adventure the Rolett family-Jordan, Jackson and now baby Avery-began helping us here on the farm. They just recently started their own CSA and look forward to expanding the future. Having the Rolett family here on our farm allows us to "do life" with others while mentoring and helping beginning farmers. One of the reasons we began farming full time is because we wanted to "practice what we preach" and be a witness to the importance of full time farmers growing small-scale food. The Rolett's will be offering a small vegetable CSA with pickup at Community Farmers Market on Tuesdays. Cost is $20 per week.
"Think Little CSA is an extension of the time we spend at Need More Acres Farm learning not only how to grow good food, but how to do good through farming as well (or, how to grow community, I guess). All of this is to say that when we--both the Rolett's and the Howell's--are not hard at work on the farm, we are hard at work off/for the farm." Jackson Rolett More Information |
